Feromon Now is a site-specific game about self-organisation and emergence. Its core game mechanism mimics how ant colonies build pheromone trails, turning random food searches into an optimised yet ephemeral transport network.
Feromon Now was recontextualised for the 2014 Festival of Future Nows at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. The game took place at two sites: in David Chipperfield’s “Sticks and Stones” artificial forest installation at the Neue Nationalgalerie and in a natural forest in the adjacent Tiergarten park. The original game Feromon was created for the 2011 You Are Go urban game festival organised by Invisible Playground.
Players: 10-40 players.
Duration: 30 minutes per round. The session consists of 2 rounds.
Playing field: “Sticks and Stones” installation by David Chipperfield at the Neue Nationalgalerie and nearby forest.
